Current Ka‘ula Island Access: All areas on Ka‘ula Island are open and accessible to the public with the exception of areas as indicated by restricted area signage.
Current Beach Access: All public accessible shoreline areas are open with the exception of areas as indicated by restricted area signage.
The Morale, Welfare and Recreation (MWR) Guest Card Program at PMRF allows card-holding civilians to access PMRF through the main gate, travel unrestricted to Waiapua'a Bay or Shenanigans, use Waiapua'a Bay and Shenanigans facilities, and access beach areas. MWR Guest Card holders enjoy main gate access 365 days per year (unless heightened Force Protection Conditions are in effect) between the hours of 5:00 a.m. and 10:00 p.m. HST.
The card authorizes the holder entry into PMRF for recreational purposes only. Guest Card holders are allowed access to federal property because they are credentialed prior to card issuance.
The following areas require a PMRF guest card to allow guest access to leisure activities onboard PMRF Barking Sands.
Waiapua‘a Bay Beach Park; includes picnic pavilion, Waiokapua Bay trail, on site showers and parking
Shenanigans Bar & Restaurant
Shenanigans Beach Access which includes parking and showers
Mana Car Wash (coin operated) and Outdoor Movie Theater
Fishing at Kini Kini Ditch (weekends and Federal Holidays only) includes on-site parking space
